New Bar in Trapani: MEET CAFE’

Here are pictures from the inauguration of MEET CAFE’, a new bar/pastry shop which opened in Trapani on Monday, December 6.  What a fun evening!  Lots of pastries, croissants, babas, cakes, pies, cassatelle, genovesi and tons more sweets as well as juice and of course, coffee, espresso, cappuccino and so on. You will find Meet Cafè on Via Marconi in Trapani.

The original Meet Cafè is in Paceco, a little town about 15kms from Trapani.

Just for your information, a bar in Italy is not the traditional American bar, but a cafè where they also sell drinks, but it’s mainly a coffee place.

New arrivals in Trapani

Newly opened LIDL and McDonald’s have caused quite a stir in Trapani.

LIDL was welcomed by mostly everyone. But not so Mc. Those against said we don’t need junk food because we have such great food in Trapani; those for, said that Mc would create many jobs.

The controversy still goes on and it will continue, but, judging from the children’s reaction, McDonald’s is here to stay!

Monte Erice, Trapani

dscn0129-erice-church

Erice is a small medieval town on top of Mount Erice. It is fortified with a wall. The monks in the old monastery were famous for making the “mustazzoli” biscuits. Now it has become a tourist attraction. The view from Erice is breath-taking.

Erice can be reached by cable car or by bus from Trapani.  Cars aren’t allowed unless the owners are residents of the town.
